Name: Carol Wedgwood
Home Town: New Orleans - where it is never, ever boring!
Ski/Snowboard Background:
I grew up loving adrenaline sports. At an early age my dad used to drive me around the neighborhood on the roof of the car to feel the wind in my hair. :) I started totally driving the car at 8. We both loved fast motorcycles and fast horses. :))
There is a huge transference of the "go" factor from adrenaline sports that require balance skills to the specific sport of skiing. :))
I remember the first snowflakes that I ever saw. My mom woke me up in the middle of
the night to view them falling from the sky. It was a miracle, and I was totally
captivated!
Ski/Snowboard Accomplishments:
Raced in Masters Series, Speed Series, Team Series, etc...
I've won my share! :))
Besides working with the athletes of Team Summit, I teach people to ski at Vail.
I've also taught people to ski at Keystone, and worked for the Race Departments
of Breckenridge and Keystone.
I'm a certified ski instructor with the Professional Ski Instructors of America,
and a certified coach with the United States Ski Association.
Coaching/Working with Youth Background:
This is my second year coaching athletes in Team Summit.
With a Masters Degree in Instruction I have taught children at the preschool level and
kindergarten, as well as first, second, fourth, fifth grades, middle school levels, and high school special education. I have also been employed as a physical education teacher and speech therapist. In addition, I have worked as the president of the Aurora Education Association and the Regional Director for the Colorado Education Association in Ski Country.
What do you like to do outside of Skiing/Snowboarding/Summit County?
In the summer I work as a Mountain Guide for Vail Resorts. Whether it involves
horseback riding, running or hiking I can take you there!
I also love to windsurf, play tennis, mountain bike, and play my guitar!
Pets:
I have one small dog named Racer Ready Wedgwood who just happens
to be the cutest dog in the world.
Something fun that makes you stand out from the rest:
I feel very grateful for the many blessings that I have received!
